IQAC workshop on Mental Wellness ‘Let’s Talk’

The youths of today face many psychological issues such as stress, depression, addiction, anxiety etc., but they often do not know how to cope with these difficulties. Keeping the scenario in mind, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North South University (NSU) organized a workshop on mental wellness on Tuesday, 30 October, 2018 at AUDI 801 of NSU. LifeSpring – a leading mental healthcare institute in Bangladesh facilitated the workshop titled ‘Let’s Talk’ which was open to both students and faculty members.      

The workshop began with a welcome address by Dr. Nazmun Nahar, Director, IQAC, NSU. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of mental wellness for students as well as for faculty members. She thanked all the participants for attending the workshop and invited them to freely participate in the discussion session. Two prominent psychiatrists Dr. Munmun Jahan and Dr. Shusama Reza Rakhi conducted the workshop. Dr. Munmun Jahan talked about the problems of mental state, including stress breakdown, anxiety, depression and addiction while Dr. Shusama Reza discussed several ways to overcome these problems and to maintain happiness and mindfulness in one’s life.

The workshop was well participated by students and faculty members of NSU.

The sessions were interactive and participants shared their own experiences as well. There was a Question Answer session towards the end of the workshop. Some good suggestions and tips came out on what can be done at critical situation of mental state.  The program ended with thanking the guests and attendees and presenting flower bouquet to the invited guests.
