What is Brunel’s Ideas Factory?

Brunel’s Ideas Factory is an immersive summer programme, hosted by Design Factory London in collaboration with the Global Engagement Office. The programme brings together students, faculty members, researchers, and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds, to blend expertise and drive creative thinking. In this summer school, Brunel will welcome an international organisation to present a current challenge of theirs to the group. Guided by interactive sessions with Brunels leading academics, entrepreneuship hub, and industry professionals, you’ll explore a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving, whilst immersing yourself in hands-on experiences alongside London and international businesses.

What is the Family Business Summer School?

Brunel’s Family Business Summer School is an immersive two-week programme hosted by Brunel University of London and in partnership with Family Business United (FBU). Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students in preparing to lead or work within family-owned enterprises, this programme blends academic insight with real-world experiences to explore leadership, innovation, sustainability, and intergenerational management in family businesses.

An innovative Hub for Family Business Leadership

Brunel Business School is globally recognised for its research and teaching in family business, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Accredited by AACSB, AMBA, and CIMA, the School ranks among the top 6% of business schools worldwide. Our faculty combines academic excellence with industry experience, ensuring participants gain practical knowledge and strategic insights that matter in today’s evolving business landscape.

A standout feature of this programme is the opportunity to connect directly with family businesses through exclusive visits and interactive sessions in the London and Southeast region, delivered in partnership with FBU. Cross-cultural Exchange & Off-Site Visits

This summer school brings together students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a vibrant environment for cultural exchange and global networking. Through collaborative projects and mentorship sessions, you’ll build strategic connections within the family business ecosystem and build connections that can lead to future opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures.

Students will also gain exclusive access to Blenheim Palace and Wiston Estate, experiencing first-hand how heritage, leadership, and values are sustained in successful family-run enterprises. Through direct engagement with the families behind these iconomic organisations, learning is brought to life beyond the classroom.

What is Brunel’s Healthcare and Biosciences Summer School?

Our two-week Healthcare and Biosciences Summer School will provide you with an immersive and pioneering scientific learning experience set in a British University, making use of our state-of-the-art laboratories. During these 2 weeks, you will become proficient in a variety of laboratory-based techniques and will be introduced to a wide-range of bioinformatics tools, and update your knowledge in genetic and cancer research, microbiology, and tissue engineering.

You will also have the opportunity to acquire key employability skills (CV and cover letter writing, using scientific English for writing up a research manuscript) as well as an opportunity to talk to experts from medical schools, industry, health and life sciences for employability opportunities. You’ll gain industry knowledge and partake in sessions which include CV and cover letter writing, understanding and writing scientific English, improve your presentation skills, learn interview techniques, and understand what employers are looking for.

What is Arts Therapies & Creative Health?

Brunel’s Arts Therapies & Creative Health International Summer School offers an intensive foundation in art psychotherapy, dramatherapy and creative health for international students across the globe. Delivered in partnership with Cairo University and CNWL NHS Foundation Trust, this unique programme combines academic teaching with Cultural site visits, cross-cultural exchange and creative practice. Whether you’re exploring arts therapies as a potential career or seeking to deepen existing knowledge, this programme provides essential grounding in theory, research and professional practice.

Over two immersive weeks, you’ll learn from leading clinicians and academics, visit NHS services where arts therapies change lives and connect with peers across cultures through our unique UK-Cairo partnership. Whether you’re taking your first steps towards a career in arts therapies, preparing for postgraduate study, or bringing fresh perspectives to your current practice, this programme offers the theoretical grounding, clinical insight and creative inspiration to support your goals.

A world-class education 

You’ll benefit from a world-class education experience at Brunel, learning from leading academics and clinicians including Professor Dominik Havsteen-Franklin, Professor Ayman Amer (Cairo University), and experienced NHS arts therapists. The programme is led by Brunel’s Arts and Health Subject Area, CNWL NHS Arts Psychotherapies Service and Cairo University Faculty of Arts, collectively drawing on decades of expertise in arts therapies training and research. Our hybrid delivery connects you with peers in Cairo, creating a genuinely international learning community.

Tailored for international arts and humanities students

We’ve designed this programme specifically for visiting students from our Transnational Education Programmes and international students worldwide who are interested in pursuing postgraduate study in arts therapies. Through a blend of academic teaching, experiential workshops, cultural activities and NHS site visits, the programme goes beyond traditional learning, providing you with a truly immersive preparation for MA-level study in Art Psychotherapy or Dramatherapy.

Gain insight into clinical practice 

Experience the reality of arts therapies in action through visits to CNWL NHS Foundation Trust services in Central London, major organisations in London collaborations and involvement through shared evaluation of arts and wellbeing programmes, and the CNWL Royal Ballet Project as well as the NHS Arts Therapies Team Development CaRE Project. You’ll meet practising arts therapists, observe service delivery, and understand the HCPC professional standards required for registration in the UK. These insights are invaluable for anyone considering a career in this rewarding field.

Note: The program fee covers accommodation, airport transfers, cultural trips in London and Cambridge, and all meals (excluding a few dinners during trips). Airfare is excluded.

The summer school will run from 19th July to 1st August 2026.
