Foreign Faculty Program for Short-term Teaching or Research<\/h1>

North South University (NSU), established in 1992 under the Private University Act, is a private sector Center for Excellence in Higher Education in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>Its registered address is Plot-15, Block-B, Bashundhara, Dhaka-1229, Bangladesh (hereinafter referred to as “NSU”)<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>NSU is interested in hosting foreign faculty, providing opportunities for its faculty to collaborate with other academics for short-term teaching or research projects<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>Prospective Program participants may also include faculty from NSU MoU partner institutions, at the discretion of NSU<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Objectives<\/h5>

The NSU Foreign Faculty Program for Short-term Teaching or Research seeks to:<\/p>

  • Promote cross-cultural academic exchange and collaboration<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Enhance the quality and diversity of teaching and research throughout NSU<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Provide faculty members with professional development opportunities<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

  • Strengthen institutional ties and create long-term partnerships in teaching and research<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    Eligibility<\/h5>

    This call is open to all PhD holders with teaching, research, and\/or unique, senior-level life experiences through which NSU student and faculty learning is enhanced<\/span><\/span>. Applicants should demonstrate:<\/span><\/p>

    • A strong academic or professional background<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

    • A clear plan for teaching or research activities to be undertaken during the residency<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

    • The potential to contribute to North South University’s academic community<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      Short-term Options<\/h5>

      Residencies at NSU should be a minimum of one week and a maximum of four months (or one semester) and can include the following options, including online only options, for consideration<\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/p>

      1. Teaching<\/strong><\/p>

      • Deliver guest lectures or teach or co-teach courses at North South University<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/li>
      • Teaching load:<\/span> typically 3-6 hours per week<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>
      • Potential activities:

        • Conduct at least one seminar or workshop in area of expertise<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

        • Teach no more than two courses or sections in one semester<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

        • Participate in curriculum development discussions<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

        • Engage with students through office hours or mentoring sessions<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

          • Expected outcomes:

            • Enhanced international perspectives in course delivery<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

            • Development of joint teaching materials<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

              2. Research Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>

              • Engage in collaborative research projects with host faculty<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/li>

                • Conduct joint research on mutually agreed topics<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

                • Utilize NSU’s research facilities and resources<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

                • Participate in research seminars and colloquia<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li>

                • Co-author papers or prepare joint grant proposals<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

                      • Access to partner NGOs, INGOs, and other organizations to collect primary data (with certain conditions applied)<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

                        Applicants should clearly outline their proposed activities, expected outcomes, and how the residency at NSU aligns with their professional development goals<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

                        Funding and Support<\/h5>
